Do I need a referral?
In NY you are able to be seen by a physical therapist without a referral for 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first. After that period a referral is required
Do you take insurance?
Blue Pelvic Physical Therapy is an Out-Of-Network (OON) provider for all insurance companies. Payment is due at the time of service by cash, check, card, HSA or FSA. Insurance companies often re-imburse for OON services. If requested, you can be provided with the documentation needed to send to your insurance company for reimbursement. We suggest calling your provider directly to determine what your reimbursement would be.
What does an internal pelvic exam look like?
Intervaginal muscles exams are an important, though always optional, part of the evaluation. This exam gives important information about a few things that are going on in your pelvic floor. During the exam, we examine the tension in the tissues of the pelvic floor, looking for any tight bands of muscles, trigger points or scar tissues that could be causing problems for you. We are also looking to see how the muscles are coordinating with each other during movements which also gives an indication to the strength of the muscles as well as their ability to work together for you. During this time we also check to see how you are managing the pressure from your core down onto your pelvic floor. The exam typically takes less than 10 min and you are always welcome to delay or stop the exam at any time. You are also welcome to bring a chaperone to the exam if you would feel more comfortable. It is always your call
Why don't you work with insurance?
By being out of network with insurance companies, we are able to provide superior, one-on-one care. When you are in-network, you are limited in what services you can provide, for how long, and what diagnoses they deem in need of treatment.
By being an out of network provider, Blue Pelvic is able to spend one-on-one time with you each and every visit for the entirety of the visit, and provide the superior care and services you need to improve. Because of this, you will require less visits to the clinic, with more value in each visit to improve quicker than the normal 30 min, 3x a week schedule at insurance based models. We work for patients, not insurance companies!
